Dell PowerVault MD1220 direct-attached storage (DAS)
The Dell PowerVault MD1220 direct-attached storage array is the second generation of energy efficient, small form factor (SFF), 2.5-inch drive expansion enclosure. With support for both high-performance SAS and high-capacity economical SATA drives, the MD1220 is an excellent choice for tiered storage. The PowerVault MD1220 is also highly scalable, with a capacity of up to 24TB per enclosure, and the ability to daisy chain up to 8 enclosures per PERC H800 (4 enclosures per port, single path) or up to 4 enclosures per PERC H800 with redundancy for increased fault tolerance.
With support for both high-performance SAS and high-capacity economical SATA drives, the MD1220 is an excellent choice for tiered storage.Combine the increased IOPs and throughput of 6Gb/s SAS with support for solid state drives (SSD), which have 3x the IOPs performance over 15K SAS2 drives and offer an ideal solution for applications that rely on random block access. Dell MD1220’s can provide up to 12 Terabytes (TB) of additional disk drive storage capacity with up to 24 2.5” hot-pluggable Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) at 7.2K, 10K or 15K RPM or SAS Solid State Drives (SDDs).
