Dell PowerVault MD3220i Storage Overview
The PowerVault™ MD3220i storage array is an Ethernet-based, entry- level, iSCSI SAN solution designed for exceptional performance and flexibility for storage consolidation.It is a 2U, 24 drive 2.5” HDD enclosure provides a high spindle count, low-cost storage that has high IOPS when using 15K, 2.5” SAS drives or SSDs.
PowerVault™ MD3220i storage array supports up to 32 physical servers when connected to one or more 1Gb Ethernet switches.
PowerVault™ MD3220i storage array has the capacity to support up to 24x hard drives with 12TB of maximum internal storage.
The base configuration of PowerVault™ MD3220i storage array has 120 hard drives storage capacity which can be scaled up to192 total hard drive storage capacity by adding in PowerVault MD1200 and/or PowerVault MD1220 expansion enclosures behind the MD3220i storage arrays.
PowerVault™ MD3220i storage array features single management interface to cut management complexity.
Configuration tips: PowerVault™ MD3220i storage array supports Self-Encrypting Drives (SED) to provide an additional level of data protection.
MD3220i arrays hold up to twenty-four (24) 2.5-inch drives. MD1200 enclosure with twelve 3.5" hard drives and MD1220 enclosure with twenty-four 2.5" drives can be added behind MD3220i series arrays, enabling us to mix 3.5" and 2.5" drives in the same array to create data tiering for optimizing system performance.
Dual controller models available with the option of 2GB or 4GB cache controllers to meet large database application needs.
Each controller with 4 iSCSI offers twice the throughput performance than last generation storages.
